strong>Challenge:
Flexible And Cost-Effective Industrial Plant Emulator

Description - IMDU Web Transport Module:
The IMDU Web Winding Module illustrates the principles of web tension and speed control design, implementation and testing. This module consists of:
  • Two hubs (carry standard paper rolls or other web material)
  • Speed roller (attaches to one of the unactuated shafts and is used to measure paper linear speedindependent of hub paper content)
  • Tension arm (used to measure tension to the paper via a preloading tension spring. The arm is attached to the second unactuated shaft. The arm position is measured using the encoder and results in a measurementof tension in the hub.)
  • Coupling several of these systems in series enables complex web transport system emulation
Difficulty:
Undergraduate advanced / Graduate / Research
