Technical Sales & Support Specialist - Data Acquisition
The Role:
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Reporting to the DAQ Product Manager you will be the first point of contact for all post sale and pre-sale customer technical support enquiries. Working with our range of leading Data Acquisition hardware and software products from companies such as Measurement Computing, IOtech and UEI you will provide technical advice and support. You will also be involved in helping to analyse technical sales enquiries to assist your colleagues in finding the correct solution for customers. The role also includes initial evaluation of Data Acquisition hardware returned by customers for repair and administration associated with these tasks on our database.
This role includes the following responsibilities:
- First point of contact for product technical sales and support enquiries, dealing with these in an efficient and timely manner and utilizing colleague’s skills where necessary.
- Involvement in some consultancy work i.e. system integration and training. This involves mostly software setup in DASYlab.
- Support marketing and the Product Manager with technical input and product reviews for marketing communications and ensuring our website and download area are always up to date.
- Occasionally provide support on other related software applications that Adept sell i.e. Maple, Maplesim, Mathcad.
- Evaluation of Data Acquisition products returned for credit. Fault evaluation/confirmation and functional test to determine suitability for restocking as resale.
- Calibration of Data Acquisition hardware as a post-sales service or prior to shipment of new products as required.
- Maintaining customer interaction records on our sales, marketing and support database and reviewing status of outstanding issues on a daily basis.
- Contributing to our product knowledge base.
- Contributing actively and positively in team meetings.
Education:
- You will be educated to HNC/HND/Degree level (or be experienced to an equivalent level) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation or a similar application area. Beneficial areas you may have had experience working in may include some of the following: Process control, test and measurement, development support or production support using data acquisition and measurement equipment including thermocouples and other transducers and control units, monitoring/control equipment, signal processing, industrial interface & control, analogue and digital electronics.
Skills and experience required:
- You will be comfortable in a people facing role with a background in analogue and digital electronics.
- It would be beneficial to have some knowledge of using software products such as LabVIEW™, DASYLab™ or MATLAB™ and data acquisition hardware products from companies such as National Instruments and Agilent.
- It would be useful to have knowledge of basic programming such as VB, C or C++.
- You will have a logical approach to problem solving.
- You will have a good telephone manner.
- You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
